Susan Montgomery is an author and illustrator inspired by nature, memory, creativity, and the small moments of everyday life. She creates books and art for both children and adults, often drawing from her own experiences and curiosity about the world around her. Susan holds a BFA in Art Education from Bowling Green State University and lives and creates in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Susan Montgomery is an author and illustrator whose work explores nature, memory, creativity, and the small moments that stay with us. A graduate of Bowling Green State University with a BFA in Art Education, Susan has written and illustrated numerous books for children and adults.
Her picture books include Strawberries and Sunshine: Saving the Perfect Day, a story inspired by a childhood memories of strawberry picking with her mom, as well as Benny’s Big Heart, Whiskers and the Cat Cafe, Clock Tower Falcons, and several books inspired by her love of the ukulele.
Susan is also the author of Bloom in Barren Soil, a memoir about creativity during a difficult season of illness and recovery, and writes Creative on Hard Days on Substack, where she explores ways to make room for creativity when life and health make creating difficult.
Across her writing and artwork, Susan is drawn to ordinary moments that carry unexpected meaning, from childhood memories and family traditions to animals, nature, and the creative practices that help us through difficult days. She lives in Bowling Green, Ohio with her tuxedo cat, Tracey.
